A memorial service was held on 12 January 2008 for Kathleen Ward, who was instrumental in the formation of our group. Sifu drafted these words, which were read out at the service on behalf of our group.

Dear friends and family

It is with a huge sense of loss, yet appreciation that I say this for having had the privilege to have known Kath and Bill because had it not been for her steadfast quest for excellence, our group of Taijiquan practitioners would not have been formed – now country-wide. Kath would never settle for second best and would with amazing energy and determination pursue her ‘quest for the best’ until she got her way! We will remember her for the high standards she set amid all her other wonderful attributes, which no doubt others will pay tribute to, a life that touched many other lives and made a difference.
